First Phone Calls, and Then Pages, From The Dead in Connecticut? -submitted (10/13/2003)

Hi Jim-
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to tell you about my strange-but-true, paranormal, witnessed experiences.

Approximately 4 years ago, my home phone would ring in the middle of the night. Totaling about 3 or 4 times, the calls occurred months apart. Each time I answered there was only silence. Having caller ID, I found the number shown was always my Mom and (then) Dad's. I would hang up and call it back only to get a busy signal. (A busy signal late at night was not unusual as my mother always took the phone off the hook when she went to bed.)

Every time I got in touch with her, she denied ever calling. I have not even the slightest doubt that she wasn't telling the truth and she was also very intrigued by this. My Dad, who was extremely hard of hearing, wasn't able to use the telephone. My Grandfather/Bestfriend who passed away in '93 lived with my parents for about 15 years prior to his death, so I began thinking it might be our beloved "Pop" playing games.

December 1999, divorced and in a new residence now, I was working one night when my pager went off showing my Mom's phone number + "911". Panic stricken as my mother never paged me before nor even knew how they worked, I called her back immediately only to get the usual busy signal. Next day I learned she hadn't paged me. I just figured it was someone who knew me messing around until I had the same thing happen four months later while up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire...

I was on a 3 day stay there with my Boyfriend at that time. He was aware of the past calls etc. and now witnessed this one. I said, "Here we go again." Naturally I called my mother's number, only to get (you guessed it) a busy signal. I knew she never called and I knew I would get the same reply from her. Again, her word is scripture. "Well, at least my pager works out here if anyone needs me," I said. I went to the local store there and tried calling my own pager to make sure of this. After several attempts, it did not go off even once! This freaked me out! Days later I went to my service provider and was shown a map indicating the service's "live zones" with New Hampshire's White Mountains being waaaay beyond range. I had them change my number while there and didn't have any more pages with Mom's number. (However, I canceled the service this past March.)

In August of 2000, 4 months after the New Hampshire incident, my Dad died unexpectedly of a heart attack. I'm not sure of any significance but these events occurred within 4 month intervals. (Dec, April, Aug.) Also, while in my new residence, I had the same phone calls happen a few times but don't recall now if it was before or after his death.

My mother's bedroom light came on by itself the night my Dad was buried, then it went out, came on, and went out again. My mother had just gone to bed and passed it over as a sign from my Dad as if to say he was pleased with the way the service went. She's claimed to have heard noises throughout the house periodically as well.

On Aug. 30 2003, 5:00 a.m. sharp as shown on caller ID: I had just woken up and was getting ready to go antiqueing in New Hampshire for the day. Passing through the kitchen, in perfect timing near room with phone, it begins to ring. Naturally I thought, "Who the hell is calling at 5 in the morning?!" I pick it up and hear an annoying, loud, high pitched sound. Sort of (but not exactly) like a fax machine. I hung up, glanced at the caller ID - and of course I got that same expected busy tone when I called Mom's number back. This is the first time in my new home of almost 3 years. Now I'm afraid something is going to happen. Before leaving the house that day, I left a note mentioning the call and wrote "If something should happen to me I Love You All," afraid now that the phone call was a sign of death? I certainly hope not! It has really got me wondering what's going on though, that's for sure! I'm trying to believe it was a friendly "Hello" from Dad whom I wished was here to go with me that day. Meanwhile, I'll keep my fingers crossed that the person calling doesn't try to "reach out and touch someone" - namely me!

Before I end I'd like to share another incident that took place years ago in the same house where my mother still lives. When I was about 13, after watching "The Exorcist", I slept with my door partially open for light. A couple nights later I woke up around 1:00-2:00 in the morning to use the bathroom. I sat up in bed afraid of putting my feet on the floor and stared up at a poster on my wall and thought, "What if that thing fell?!" DOWN IT CAME!!!!!! And OUT I FLEW into the bathroom! Crying, I went and slept with my brother! He thought I was nuts. I tore the poster to shreds the next day.

Sincerely, V.C. Connecticut
