It seems the Cohoke Lights are known world over by ghost story lovers. A phantom light appears, advances over the railroad tracks like a locomotie headlamp - then vanishes without a trace. The first version of the story is the light is a "latern" believed to be guiding a brakeman down the railway who's missing something - his head!
Another version states that the boys in gray battle worn uniforms endlessly ride the rails. The light is believed to be that of a "ghost train" that disappears right before it gets to the crossing.

We are still reviewing the video tape shot that night (about 4 hours worth of video) but Jim Hale had an interesting experience in the balcony. While he was sitting in the balcony section alone - everyone else was downstairs enjoying some fresh popcorn - Jim was a real trooper and wanted to monitor the infrasound oscilator. He felt 3 distinct "kicks" to the back of his chair - and the infrasound oscilator registered an environmental change for every "kick". Rick and I will be reviewing the video tape to see if anything shows up on video during this event.

However I'm not so sure that all of the activity attributed to the paranormal is indeed paranormal. I suspect infrasound could be the culprit. Tests at NASA have shown that the human eyeball has a resonant frequency of 18 cycles a second, and will vibrate in sympathy with infrasound waves that have a similar frequency. I interviewed the mother with our standard set of questions. Her paranormal experiences were not limited to this apartment alone but had been occurring throughout her life. They didn't fit any signs of a classic haunting. Rick conducted a trifield meter survey with the power off and didn't find anything unusual with the EM field in the home. We also were not able to distinguish if the paranormal phenemona was independent of other causes that may allow someone to interpret the phenomena as paranormal when it is not. We have decided that a full scale investigation is not warrented in this case. We have asked the mother to keep a log of events and to call us if the activity increases.
This woman had a drug issue and overactive imagination. Case Closed. Never heard from her again.
